Step Into the Underground Music Scene in Boerne—Literally.

Couple at Cave Without A Name Concert

There are not many places that you can go below the earth’s surface to see a concert—but Boerne is home to one of them! Cave Without A Name is the host of this very special experience, and there is typically a live music concert held within the cave about once a month. This means there are upcoming opportunities for you to immerse yourself in the acoustics of the Queen’s Throne Room and relish the wonders of Cave Without A Name!

First-Hand Experience:

I had the opportunity to partake in a cave concert this past weekend—The Haunted Cave Show. This is the Halloween-themed show that takes place every year and it was a sold-out show! The staff was very friendly and ensured that we were all informed on where to go next. We filed in one by one down the 126 steps (equivalent to 8 stories) into the depths of the earth. At the last step, we dispersed into the Queen’s Throne Room. Tall, natural structures that have been forming for centuries stood proud and elegant to greet us in the warmly-lit clearing. Everyone took their seats and made acquaintances with the person sitting next to them before the show began.

The Rahim-Quazi Trio marched and hummed as they made it to their designated spots. They serenaded and charmed the audience with lots of laughter, spooky stories, and enthralling original songs. The music took us away! The violin, keys, and guitar sounds reverberated through the cave while pre-picked clips from classic Halloween films, like Dracula and Young Frankenstein, were projected on the cave walls. We even collectively sat in total darkness as the pianist played Moonlit Sonata—I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face! An operatic singer took the stage a couple times, and her voice echoed hauntingly beautiful through the stalactites and stalagmites. The acoustics of the cave were enough to sell me on going back a second time to experience other themes and bands!

Upcoming Concerts:

In the remainder of 2019, there will be 4 concerts at the Cave Without A Name! They include:

Cave Tours:

If you’re unable to make it to a concert, you can still experience the magic of the Cave Without A Name by taking a cave tour! They are open 7 days a week and give tours every hour on the hour (last tour is at 4PM). Learn about the history of the cave, how it got its unique name, the formation of the structures inside, and even some of the critters that take up residence there.  Make a weekend out of it and check out more Boerne events to attend while you’re here!
