Who’s ready to feel like a kid again this Christmas season with a nighttime drive around Boerne looking at lights? Boerne residents and businesses have stepped up their holiday lighting game this year, so pour your hot cocoa and get ready to load up the car.
The City and retailers have really outdone themselves on the Hill Country Mile this year! If you want to get out and stroll, feel free to park at the Boerne Visitors Center or along Main Street to take it all in! Shops will be open late (9 pm) for the Home for the Holidays event this weekend too! (Dec. 11th and 12th)
The Jones’ Family home is now known nationwide as the runner-up winner to The Great Christmas Light Fight last year! Check out the preview video of their drive-through display on their Facebook page! Donations are accepted and support local kids in need! The Hinojosa Family has been known to go all out with their exterior lighting display and this year they are claiming that this is the biggest and brightest show yet with approximately 140 hours worth of set up work! Check out their Facebook page for details and preview videos! – 140 Shadow Knolls
Enjoy a Texas-sized drive-through experience at Christmas on the Ranch located at Don Strange Ranch. In addition to the stunning lights, the ranch has added something new this year…drive-in classic Christmas Movies! Purchase tickets online OR check out our Instagram account next Friday (Dec. 18th) to enter for a chance to win a family hayride through the lights with hot cocoa! Santa’s Village is also located at the ranch and you are welcome to hop out of your car to go say “hi” to the Big Man himself, grab a bite to eat, and shop the vendors located inside! – 103 Waring Welfare Rd.
Old West Christmas Light Fest is not exclusively a drive-through event, but there are lights along the long driveway as you approach the parking lot for the decked-out lighted old west town. Once out of your car, say “howdy” to Santa, stroll through the Mistletoe Market, play laser tag in the lights, roast marshmallows by a campfire, or even ride a mechanical bull! Every year the Boerne Parks and Recreation Department hosts the Parade of Lights Residential and Commercial Lighting Contest. Noteworthy neighborhoods that have historically entered the “Best Neighborhood” category include Woodside Village and Village Oaks. Both are located off Blanco Rd. here in Boerne. The 2019 winners are listed online now and a map of all the entered addresses for 2020 will be published later this week. This tool is sure to aid you in your quest for the best Christmas lights in town!
